Community & People

The Community and People Team are responsible for building community capacity, creating livable and inclusive spaces and social infrastructure in addition to facilitating welcoming events within our diverse community. They are also responsible for planning and supporting the City’s people resources and providing support to the RCMP detachment.

The function consists of Community Support Services (FCSS, PCSS, CRC and other community resources), People Operations (Human Resources, Payroll & Benefits), Culture and Events, Diversity and Inclusion, and RCMP Clerical Services.

City Governance

The City Governance Team supports the municipality’s overall operations and development through the following function areas: Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (City Clerk’s Office which includes Legislative and Policy Services, Communication Services and Economic Development) and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (Financial Services, Tax Services, Customer Service, IT and Utilities).

Community Growth & Infrastructure

The Community Growth & Infrastructure Team provides coordination, regulation and oversight of all development and infrastructure projects. They look after the long-range planning of new growth areas, planning new or upgrading existing infrastructure, compliance to development and safety code permits.

This function consists of: Growth & Development (Planning, Development Services, and Safety Codes & Inspections) and Infrastructure Management (Engineering, Data & Asset Management, and Contracts & Procurement).

Community Safety

The primary objective within Community Safety is to make Chestermere a safe place to live and work by providing an excellent, cost effective service that can reduce risk, respond quickly and restore and maintain the high quality of life in the community.

Community Safety includes Health and Safety, Emergency Management, Community Peace Officers and Fire Services.

Community Operations

Community Operations includes Roads and Fleet, Facilities, Environmental Services (Eco Centre) and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Roads crews clear snow in the winter, sweep the sand in the spring and repair potholes throughout the year. Whether you are taking a walk on the City’s pathways, enjoying a day at the beach, or trying new jumps at the Bike Park, the Community Operations team makes our community a clean and vibrant place to live.
