All waste (including dirt, yard clippings, construction materials, furniture etc.) is the responsibility of the property owner to dispose of properly. Dumping even natural materials in parks and green spaces is illegal and can harm the environment.
Illegal dumping costs you, the taxpayers. When large items are found on roads, or in parks, the City’s Roads department has to pick it up and haul it to the landfill. This process often involves multiple staff, trucks and costs money to dispose of properly.
Anyone found guilty of illegal dumping could be fined up to $10,000 under the Community Standards Bylaw section 4.
