Boards & Committees
Council creates Boards and Committees to provide recommendations to Council, as well as to invite feedback and input from residents on various topics. The list below explains the responsibilities of each committee and how many members of the public are involved with each of them.

Assessment Review Board
2-4 Public Members
In accordance with the Municipal Government Act, the Assessment Review Board shall carry out the duties and responsibilities as set out in the Municipal Government Act and the Matters Relating to Assessment Complaints Regulation.
Chestermere Library Board
5-8 Public Members
The Chestermere Library Board’s purpose is to oversee the management of the Chestermere Public Library.
Grant Adjudication Committee
9 Public Members
Historically, the City of Chestermere has made charitable donations through two committees: The Community Grant Funding Adjudication Committee and the Human Services Advisory Board. The Community Grant Funding Committee was responsible for rewarding worthy non-profit organizations and individuals with funds sourced internally, while the Human Services Advisory Board was responsible for funding that was externally sourced (i.e. United Way and the Family and Community Services (FCSS) program. To better facilitate the funding the City of Chestermere does, the two committees have been joined to become the Grant Adjudication Committee.
Lake and Watershed Advisory Committee
5-10 Public Members
The Lake and Watershed Advisory Committee is mandated to support lake sustainability and recreation lake use management initiatives, implement public education on aquatic invasive species, monitor information on lake quality and watershed viability, and support the implementation and follow-up activities of a Watershed and Lake Plan.
Police Communications Committee
8 Public Members
The Police Communications Committee is established for the purpose of providing a casual forum to receive input from the community and share information with respect to communicating items of public safety objectives and priorities.
Seniors Advisory Committee
7-10 Public Members
The Seniors Advisory Committee’s purpose is to advise and make recommendations to Council and Administration on how the City of Chestermere can improve services and infrastructure to its citizens, with the intent, those citizens will stay in Chestermere. The Committee will place an emphasis on Older Adults, but not limited to that scope. Areas of research for this committee include: Affordable Housing, Physical and Mental Health, Supports and Services. The Committee will collaborate, research, and develop recommended strategies for Council and Administration.
Mayor’s Task Force for Recreation
8 Public Members
The purpose of the Mayor’s Task Force for Recreation is to provide strategic advice and support to Council related to the delivery of municipal recreation services in Chestermere with the specific intent to:
- Support the planning and development of new and/or improved municipal recreation facilities within the Chestermere region.
- Support efforts to strengthen partnerships at the sub-regional level to coordinate and improve recreation services delivered at the Chestermere Regional Recreation Center (CRRC).
Chestermere Economic Development Advisory Committee
5-7 Public Members
Chestermere Economic Development Advisory Committee will provide advice and recommendations to the Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the City of Chestermere and City Directors on matters relating to the attraction, development, and retention of all business sectors within the City of Chestermere
Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
6 Public Members
In accordance with the Municipal Government Act, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board shall hear appeals from municipal subdivision and development authorities. SDAB decisions shape the community and affect the lives of developers, neighbours, citizens and businesses. It is important that the public have confidence in the quality of these decisions and the decision-making process. Training is required.
Mayor’s Task Force for Non-Profits
The Mayor’s Task Force for Non-Profits (MTFNP) is established to assess the needs and challenges faced by non-profit organizations in Chestermere and to provide recommendations to the City Council for supporting and enhancing the non-profit sector.
