Renew Your Dog License
- Dog licences expire December 31. Renewal payment is due January 31.
- You can renew by online form (see below), phone, drop box or PayPal.
- If renewing by drop box at City Hall, please ensure you include the name of the person the license is under. Payment by cheque only, please do not deposit cash.
Fee's For Dog Tags
- Dogs that have been spayed or neutered: $35
- Dogs that have not been altered: $55
Off-Leash Dog Park
There is an Off-Leash Area at the northwest end of the Lake.
Please be aware that you are still responsible to pick up after your pet in the off leash area. You are not allowed to let your dog run loose except in the off-leash area.
Dog Ownership Expectations
- If your dog defecates on someone else’s property, it is your responsibility to remove any fecal matter.
- If your dog runs away or is lost, please contact the Peace Officers at (403) 207-7058. If the Peace Officers find your pet, you may be charged fees associated with the care of your pet until you retrieve him / her.
- A limit of 2 dogs are allowed per household

Concerns Regarding Wildlife
Residents are reminded that wildlife can be dangerous and not to approach them or feed wildlife under any circumstances. Homeowners are asked to secure garbage, pet food and eliminate other potential food sources (such as pet waste) that may attract wildlife.
While the City regulates dogs in the community, all other wildlife interaction falls under the responsibility of Alberta Fish & Wildlife.

Large Wildlife
If bears, moose or cougars are spotted within Chestermere, call 911 immediately.
Otherwise, call Alberta Fish and Wildlife at 403-297-6423 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday or 1-800-642-3800 after hours if you have a problem with:
- Badgers
- Deer
- Wolves
- Other large wildlife
Bee's
The City of Chestermere has no specific bylaws in regards to honeybees and no permit is required to keep bees as a hobby. Beekeeping in Alberta is regulated by Alberta Agriculture. Anyone who keeps bees or owns beekeeping equipment anywhere in Alberta must, by law, register with Alberta Agriculture every year by June 30.
Commercial beekeeping does require a Discretionary use Development Permit and if approved a Business License in the City of Chestermere. Commercial Beekeeping is currently only allowed in the Large Lot Rural Residential (LLR) District and the Urban Transition (UT) District, but is still under the jurisdiction of Alberta Agriculture.

Coyotes and rats within city limits
In an emergency situation where there is immediate danger, call 911.
