Members of Council and the Mayor were invited to visit the Chestermere Regional Food Bank today as the organization prepares for one of its busiest times of the year. During the visit, Council members received a walk-through of the facility and learned about the increased activity taking place as Christmas Hampers are prepared.
At this time of year, the Food Bank continues to operate its core programs while also coordinating Christmas Hamper distribution for local families. Ongoing assistance includes the Regular Hamper program, Bread & Extras, the Backpack Program, and community initiatives such as Meals on Wheels and the Good Food Box. The Food Bank also operates an Adopt-a-Family program, with 18 sponsors supporting families this season.
According to the Food Bank’s 2025 year-end data, volunteers contributed 7,006 hours between January and November, supporting 15,571 individual clients, including 9,951 children, through food security programs across the community.
The holiday season represents a particularly busy period for the Food Bank as preparations are finalized for Christmas Hamper distribution. The Chestermere Food Bank relies on volunteer support and community donations year-round. Residents interested in volunteering or learning more about how to support the Food Bank are encouraged to visit the organization’s website.
