Proposed Land Use Bylaw Amendment to Create a Country Residential District (CR)
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 216.4 of the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, Chapter M-26, and amendments thereto, the Council of the City of Chestermere is considering Bylaw #005-26. A Public Hearing will be held on TUESDAY, February 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. during a Regular Meeting of Council for the below-proposed Bylaw.

The Public Hearing is scheduled during a Regular Meeting of Council, visit our Council Meetings page where links to watch the live stream will be posted on the day of the meeting.
Written submissions may be submitted by emailing publichearing@chestermere.ca with your name, address, phone number, the Bylaw number you are speaking to and whether you are in favour or opposed or by completing the feedback option by visiting the Public Notice page.
Written submissions, electronic submissions, and verbal presentations to be included in the Agenda and provided to Council must be received by Friday, February 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
Written submissions received after Friday, February 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. will be accepted by the City and may be provided to Council, if approved by a Resolution of Council.
Individuals or groups who wish to present at the Public Hearing the day of shall register on the designated sign-in sheet before the opening of the Public Hearing, as either in support or opposition of the proposed matter.
Bylaw #005-26 proposes:
An amendment to Bylaw #020-24, being the Land Use Bylaw, as amended to create a new Country Residential District (CR). The intent of this district is to provide an alternative option for residential development that does not have the same level of requirements to transition to or achieve higher urban density. Through the proposed amendment, Administration is solely creating the district and is not recommending rezoning any site to the Country Residential District (CR) within the City.
