Construction Season is Underway - Help Keep Chestermere Safe and Clean

With spring in full swing, construction activity is increasing across Chestermere. The City is taking a proactive approach to safety, cleanliness and bylaw enforcement to ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe, welcoming and accessible—particularly in new and developing areas.

Here’s what you need to know:
• Developers and builders have been reminded of their responsibility to maintain clean, safe and orderly construction sites.
• Effective immediately, sites found in violation of the Land Use Bylaw or National Building Code (Alberta Edition) may receive a Stop Work Notice without prior warning.
• The City is enforcing regulations around proper garbage disposal, secure storage of materials and restricted construction hours.
• Residents may notice increased monitoring and enforcement in construction zones.

Help us uphold community standards by reporting unsafe or unclean construction activity.

Let’s work together to support responsible development and protect the well-being of our community. If you notice debris, unsafe conditions or poor site maintenance in your area, we encourage you to report it.

Developers are expected to maintain their sites year-round—even during inactive periods. This includes regular cleaning, mowing, weeding, snow removal, site clean-up and sediment control.

This aligns with Council’s Mindful and Responsible Community Stewardship Key Area of Focus. Click here to view the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan.
