The Chestermere Regional Community Association (CRCA) has received $222,900 in provincial funding through the Active Communities Initiative to support the replacement of the Recreation Centre’s aging chiller.
The current chiller is more than 20 years old and nearing the end of its lifespan. Replacing it will significantly improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the facility’s ice plant, ensuring both the hockey rink and curling rink can continue operating smoothly for years to come. The new unit will also increase energy efficiency and is designed to be rebuildable, providing a longer operational life.
Work is expected to begin in May 2026 and be completed by August 2026, ahead of the fall ice season.
Quote – CRCA:
“We are grateful for the support from the Active Communities Initiative. This funding is essential in upgrading our chiller and maintaining high-quality recreation services for residents. We truly appreciate the commitment to strengthening community facilities and value this partnership.” — Mike Moore, General Manager, Chestermere Regional Community Association
The City of Chestermere congratulates the CRCA on this important renewal and thanks the Government of Alberta for investing in community infrastructure that keeps families active and connected.
