As of January 19th, the City of Chestermere received additional correspondence from the Hon. Ric McIver advising of the issuance of Ministerial Order No. MSD: 005/24. This order, in accordance with Section 571 of the Municipal Government Act, designates Deloitte Inc to carry out an inspection of the financial management of the City of Chestermere.
During Council on January 23rd, Chestermere’s Official Administrator, Doug Lagore, passed the following motions related to the matter:
- Motion that the Official Administrator accept the January 19th correspondence from the Hon. Ric McIver, Minister for Municipal Affairs and Ministerial Order No. MSD 005/24 announcing an inspection in the form of a financial review for the City of Chestermere as information; and
- That the Official Administrator, as recommended by the minister, direct administration to public the correspondence and Ministerial Order on the City of Chestermere website; and
- That the Official Administrator direct the administration to cooperation fully with Deloitte Inc. who have been appointed as Inspector to condcut an inspection into the financial management of the City of Chestermere for the period October 18, 2021 to December 4, 2023.
