Effective January 16, 2026, all water restrictions have been lifted. Thank you to everyone who helped to conserved water!
Due to a major water main break along 16 Avenue NW in the City of Calgary, the regional water supply has been significantly impacted. As a result, the City of Calgary has implemented Stage 4 Water Restrictions.
To help conserve our shared water supply and ensure availability for essential needs, all Chestermere residents are asked to reduce water use immediately.
Mandatory: Outdoor Water Use Prohibited
Effective immediately, all outdoor water use is prohibited. This includes:
- Flooding ice rinks
- Filling hot tubs, pools, or decorative water features
Voluntary: Indoor Water Conservation Measures
To help stretch the limited water supply, residents are asked to voluntarily reduce indoor water use.
Reduce toilet flushing. Only flush when needed.
Keep showers to three minutes or less.
Only run the washing machine and dishwasher with full loads.
City staff are monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with regional partners. Updates will be shared on the City’s website and social media channels as more information becomes available. You can follow the City of Calgary’s updates here: Bearspaw water main break
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping protect our community’s water supply during this critical time.
