With the arrival of warmer weather, we know you’re eager to visit Chestermere Lake, and we’re thrilled to welcome you back.
Ahead of another season of fun on the lake, we want to take a moment to remind you how vital water safety is—especially when children are involved.
Your safety, and that of your loved ones, is our top priority. To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience on Chestermere Lake or at one of our beaches, please remember the following:
- Always wear a lifejacket: This is the single most important thing you can do while enjoying the water. A personal flotation device can be a lifesaver, especially for children who are not strong swimmers. Even for strong swimmers, unexpected situations can occur. Make it a habit: if you or your family are in or near water, wear a lifejacket.
- Active supervision is essential: Drowning is fast and silent. Designate a responsible adult to always supervise children. Remember, if you’re not within arm’s reach, you’ve gone too far.
The City offers aquatic safety equipment for use in case of emergency. These stations will always include one or more of the following items:
- A rescue ring/life preserver
- A throw bag
- A reaching hook
If you see someone in distress, call 911 immediately.
