Starting April 23, the Western Irrigation District has begun the diversion of water from the Bow River to Chestermere Lake.
While lake levels will begin to rise immediately, the WID has indicated their plan to finish filling the lake by approximately May 1.
The City has been informed that due to ongoing drought conditions, the water levels may fluctuate. This decision is not taken lightly, but must be made in response to the critical and uncontrolled circumstances imposed by the impending drought.
