With recent warmer weather, ice surfaces around Chestermere can become extremely dangerous. Avoid slushy, thawed, recently refrozen ice, or ice near moving water and avoid going on the ice at night. Reduced visibility increases the risk of passing over weak or open ice.
Remember, if you’re in doubt, don’t go out! Talk with your children about ice safety. It is also important to keep your pets on a leash when walking them near natural ice surfaces.
