On the late morning of May 12, 2024, a Chestermere Peace Officer performing traffic enforcement on West Chestermere Drive conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the discovery that the driver was impaired by alcohol, suspended, and had multiple outstanding warrants. The driver was charged with numerous offences under the Traffic Safety Act. In addition, with the assistance of Chestermere RCMP the driver was subject to Immediate Roadside Sanctions for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. The driver was released on appearance notices and the vehicle was seized.
This highlights Chestermere Peace Officers commitment to public safety through proactive traffic enforcement. An impaired driver operating a vehicle before 10am is especially concerning considering that’s when a majority of the community are out driving, walking, or playing. Chestermere Municipal Enforcement hopes this sends a message that these types of action are unacceptable on Chestermere’s roadways.
