What would you do if you were Mayor for a day?
The Mayor for a Day program is returning to Chestermere, and students in Grades 7–12 are invited to take part.
This is your chance to step into the role of Mayor for a day. You will share your ideas, connect with community leaders, and learn how local government works in Chestermere.
Through this experience, you will gain insight into leadership, community planning, and how decisions are made in your city. The selected student will also have the opportunity to collaborate with community members and discuss ideas inspired by what they see and what residents may need.
How the Contest Works
To apply, you will submit a mock proposal answering the following question:
If you were Mayor for a day, what is one idea you would implement to improve the well-being of Chestermere residents?
Your idea could focus on areas such as:
- Health and wellness
- Education
- Parks
- Recreation
The top five submissions will be invited to an interview with City staff. The final selection will be made by the Mayor.
What You Could Experience
The selected student will receive:
- A mock inauguration ceremony to swear you in as Mayor for the day
- A full day with Mayor Shannon Dean and the opportunity to meet councillors
- The chance to take part in non-confidential day-to-day City activities
