Alberta Health Services has lifted the water quality advisory for Cove Beach at Chestermere Lake. Recent testing confirms that bacteria levels have returned to safe levels for recreational use.
Swimming and wading are now considered low-risk, and the beach is fully open for public enjoyment. The advisory, originally issued on August 8, was a precautionary measure following elevated levels of fecal bacteria detected during routine testing.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued a Water Quality Advisory for Cove Beach following routine testing. While the beach remains open for relaxation and recreation, swimming and wading are temporarily not recommended due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water.
This advisory is a precaution to help protect public health. At higher bacteria levels, contact with the water may increase the risk of minor illnesses or infections. We’re working closely with AHS to monitor conditions and will update the community as soon as it’s safe to return to the water.
What you can still enjoy at Cove Beach:
- Sunbathing and picnicking
- Beach games and family time
- Playground with swings and climbing features
- Basketball and pickleball courts
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize safety.
