City of Chestermere Lowers Flags in Solidarity with Tumbler Ridge

By February 12, 2026Newsflash

The City of Chestermere joins communities across Canada in mourning the tragic loss of life in Tumbler Ridge.

In alignment with federal and provincial governments, flags at all City of Chestermere facilities are flying at half-mast in honour of the victims and in recognition of the profound impact this tragedy has had on families, students, educators, and first responders.

Mayor Shannon Dean shared the following:

“As Mayor, and as a member of a close-knit community, my heart is heavy for the people of Tumbler Ridge. When violence touches a school, it shakes all of us. On behalf of Council and our residents, we extend our deepest condolences to every family affected. We stand with you in grief and in solidarity.”

Chestermere is a community built on connection, care, and respect. In moments like this, those values matter most.

Flags will remain at half-mast in accordance with provincial and federal direction.

Residents seeking mental health support are encouraged to connect with provincial and local services.
