Moment of Reflection
Council recognized the achievements of the Chestermere athletes who represented Canada at the Winter Olympics. Ben Herbert and Brent Gallant earned gold medals in men’s curling and received a warm welcome from the community upon their return. Council expressed pride in their accomplishments and looks forward to celebrating them locally.
Utility Billing and Customer Portal System Upgrade
The Board of Directors approved migrating 1538974 Alberta Ltd.’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from an on-premises platform to a cloud-based version, aligning with the City’s ERP modernization. The upgrade will improve performance, enhance reporting and support full integration with the City’s online customer portal, including expanded self-service and payment options.
The Board approved $40,000 in 2026 from the unrestricted surplus for implementation. Ongoing subscription costs of $67,493 from 2027 to 2029 will be funded through the operating budget.
Seniors Advisory Committee
Council approved updates to Policy No. 855, the Seniors Advisory Committee terms of reference, with amendments. Changes include updated wording and the addition of a non-voting staff liaison appointed by the chief administrative officer. The updates modernize the policy, reflect current committee structures and align with the Committee Bylaw.
Lake and Watershed Advisory Committee
Council approved updates to Policy No. 857, the Lake and Watershed Advisory Committee terms of reference, with amendments. The revised policy clarifies the committee’s advisory role and aligns its structure and operations with the Committee Bylaw and current practices.
Country Residential District Land Use Bylaw Amendment
Following the public hearing, Council gave second and third reading to Bylaw No. 005-26, creating a new Country Residential (CR) District within the Land Use Bylaw. The district allows one to two-acre residential development without full urban servicing and restricts further subdivision. Council also directed Administration to expand the definition of secondary suites to include alternate dwelling forms, such as garden and garage suites, where applicable in the CR District.
Acreage Infill Policies – Municipal Development Plan Amendment
Following the public hearing, Council gave second and third reading to Bylaw No. 009-26, amending the Municipal Development Plan to align acreage infill policies with the new Country Residential (CR) District. The amendment allows subdivision and development authorities discretion to waive shadow planning requirements for CR-designated lands, enabling site-specific and cost-effective development while maintaining alignment between the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw.
Council also directed Administration to host an informational open house for acreage owners in Paradise Meadows, East Acreages, Lake Ere Estates and North Acreages before the end of June 2026.
Range Road 284 and Chestermere Boulevard Intersection
Council directed Administration to work with the City of Calgary on a staged safety improvement approach for the Range Road 284 and Chestermere Boulevard intersection.
Administration was asked to consider information presented at the February 24, 2026 meeting and additional options raised by Council, and to return with a presentation by the end of June 2026.
2026 Mayor and Council Charity Golf Tournament
Council directed Administration to contact Lakeside Greens Golf Course regarding Saturday and August date options for the 2026 Mayor and Council Charity Golf Tournament. Administration will return with available dates at the March 10, 2026 Regular Meeting of Council.
