Chestermere RCMP investigates reports of inappropriate behaviour
Chestermere, Alta. – On Aug. 24, 2026, around 5:50 p.m., Chestermere RCMP received three complaints regarding a young adult male in the Safeway parking lot accosting people and displaying inappropriate behaviour. RCMP responded and located the suspect. Upon speaking with the suspect, responding officers noted that the individual was showing signs of cognitive difficulties. The male, who was spoken to in the presence of his parents, had apparently been trying to make friends. The individual was made aware that their actions were not being perceived as friendly and was further explained what is considered to be appropriate social behaviour. No charges were laid in this investigation.
“We want the public to know that every complaint we receive is taken seriously and investigated to its full potential” said S/Sgt. Kathy Klassen, Detachment Commander of the Chestermere RCMP. “Though not every investigation leads to a public statement, we want to reassure the public that we will always hear their complaints and concerns and will keep striving to better represent the needs of our community”.
