Keeping sidewalks clear of snow is an important way to be a good neighbour and support your community. Snow and freeze/thaw cycles can result in hazardous, icy conditions on walkways and sidewalks. These conditions are a safety concern for everyone, particularly for those with limited mobility, service providers and waste collectors.
Prompt snow and ice removal not only improves accessibility for strollers, wheelchairs, and pedestrians but also ensures safer pathways for everyone. By working together to maintain clear sidewalks, we foster a sense of connection and care that makes Chestermere a great place to liveāeven in the winter months.
In the spirit of being a good neighbour, please do not pile shovelled snow:
- Into a crosswalk
- On top of a storm drain
- Into a neighbour’s yard
- Into any roadway, boulevard or pathway.
Failure to maintain your sidewalk, or shovelling snow into any roadway, boulevard or pathway, could result in a fine up to $250. Click here for details on the City’s Snow Removal Bylaw.
