Chestermere Council and Administration are committed to fostering a safe and secure environment for all residents and have been actively working on several initiatives.
The City has adopted a collaborative approach, making efforts to engage with various community partners to ensure initiatives are comprehensive and effective.
Mayor and Council have been actively engaging with key community partners to gather insights and collaborate on effective solutions. This engagement has included:
- Youth Safer Communities Report: In November of 2024, Synergy presented information to council on Youth Safer Communities Report. Click here to review the report.
- Rocky View School Division (RVS) and Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) Trustees: Focusing on the safety and well-being of our students and exploring ways to enhance safety in and around schools.
- Community Peace Officers (CPOs): Working closely to support the efforts of our officers and ensure effective enforcement of bylaws and regulations.
- RCMP: Strengthening our partnership and collaborating on crime prevention and response strategies.
- This also included a presentation to Council from Staff Sgt. Klassen on what it could look like to have a Youth Liason Officer in our schools.
Understanding the community’s perspective is crucial. To that end, Mayor and Council have also:

- Participated in a Youth Safety Workshop: This workshop brought together community partners, including City Council, the RCMP, Community Peace Officers, Community Services, and Synergy to discuss strategies and initiatives to enhance the safety of our youth.
- Synergy is taking information gathered at this workshop back to youth and will be bringing back a presentation to council in the spring to create an action list.
- Met with the Mayor’s Not-for-Profit Task Force: leveraging the expertise and community connections of this task force to explore collaborative solutions and identify areas where not-for-profit organizations can contribute to community safety.
- Participated in a Youth Safety Workshop: This workshop brought together community partners, including City Council, the RCMP, Community Peace Officers, Community Services, and Synergy to discuss strategies and initiatives to enhance the safety of our youth.
These meetings and workshops have provided valuable insights and have helped shape our ongoing efforts to enhance community safety.
