As schools in Chestermere have begun another year, RCMP and Community Peace Officers are reminding drivers to pay close attention when travelling near schools and playgrounds, and to follow the posted speed limit of 30 km/h.
To support this community safety initiative, Peace Officers have increased their presence around Chestermere schools.
Recently, Peace Officers stopped a vehicle travelling 105 km/h in a playground zone on Rainbow Road. A Chestermere resident was charged in relation to the incident and is scheduled to appear in court.
Excessive speeds pose a significant risk to pedestrians, other vulnerable road users and motorists, particularly in areas where children may be present. Please slow down, follow posted limits, and help keep our community safe.
