Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is a national campaign coordinated by Public Safety Canada to encourage Canadians to be ready for emergencies before they happen. Each year, EP Week takes place during the first week of May (May 3- 9) and serves as a reminder that preparedness is an ongoing journey built over time.
In Chestermere, being prepared means looking out for ourselves, our households and one another. Emergencies do not affect everyone the same way, but when our community is connected and informed, recovery is faster and safer for all.
Open House

Join us for the Fire Services Open House in celebration of Emergency Preparedness Week on May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chestermere Fire Services.
This family friendly event is an opportunity to meet members of Chestermere Fire Services, RCMP, EMS, Calgary 911 and other community partners. Residents will learn easy and practical ways to prepare for emergencies and keep their households safe.
Bring your family, ask questions, explore emergency vehicles and connect with the people who help keep our community safe. Emergency preparedness starts with awareness and connection, and events like this help strengthen our community before emergencies happen.
Alberta’s 2026 Theme: In It Together
Emergencies can happen without warning. Before, during and after an emergency, neighbours, friends and community groups play a vital role. Strong community connections reduce stress and help speed up recovery. Emergency Preparedness Week is a chance to strengthen those connections and build a more resilient Chestermere.
Be Prepared in Four Simple Steps
