Chestermere RCMP encourage safe driving habits for teen drivers this school year
Chestermere, Alta.– Many high school students are starting the year behind the wheel for the first time, driving themselves and friends to school. The Chestermere RCMP is encouraging teen drivers to make safety their top priority and avoid risky behaviours.
Motor vehicle collisions remain one of the leading causes of death and serious injury for young drivers. By developing safe habits now, teens can help keep themselves, their passengers, and others safe.
Safe driving tips for teens:
- Always wear a seatbelt — and ensure all passengers do, too.
- Follow posted speed limits, especially in school zones.
- Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or cannabis.
- Avoid distractions such as cellphones, loud music, or multiple passengers.
- Leave extra time for your commute to avoid speeding.
