Council Recognitions and Announcements
Council recognized Agnel Pontgan Joshi for his outstanding achievements in mathematics through the UCMAS program, earning championship titles at the provincial, national and international levels. Council presented him with a certificate of recognition.
Council also recognized long-time resident Lawrence Mack on his 90th birthday, in celebration of more than 50 years of contributions to the Chestermere community.
Residents were encouraged to submit future recognition requests through the Mayor’s Office.
Mayor & Council Charity Golf Tournament Donations 2026
Administration (Office of the CAO) requested a decision on the final proceeds from the Third Annual Mayor & Council Charity Golf Tournament, held on June 12, 2026. Council approved the disbursement of $83,631.08 to the Chestermere Regional Food Bank.
Bridgeport Land Use Bylaw Amendment
Administration (Community Growth & Infrastructure) requested a decision on Bylaw #024-26, proposing amendments to the Bridgeport land use districts and related transportation network to better align with current development needs. Council gave First Reading to Bylaw #024-26 and approved a Public Hearing for September 1, 2026, at 10 a.m.
Chief Administrative Officer Bylaw #029-26
Administration (Office of the CAO) requested a decision on updates to Bylaw #029-26 following Council’s previous discussion, including amendments related to information requests, budget reallocations, procurement reporting and collective bargaining authority. Council tabled the bylaw pending additional information from the Province.
2026 Seasonal E-Scooter Program
Administration (Office of the CAO) provided an update on the proposed 2026 Seasonal E-Scooter Program, including the proposed operating model and funding requirements.
Council lifted the item from the table and accepted the update for information. The City continues to advocate to the Province for legislative changes related to e-scooters that support local municipalities in managing these programs safely and effectively.
Utility Governance, Policy and Rate Review
Administration (Utilities) presented a review of utility governance, financial policies, rate-setting and long-term infrastructure funding. Council accepted the report for information.
Lake Incident Update – WID Canal Spill
Administration (Emergency Management) provided an update on the recent contaminant spill in the Western Irrigation District (WID) Canal that originated outside municipal boundaries. Protective measures were implemented immediately, and crews confirmed that no contaminants entered Chestermere Lake. Council accepted the update for information. The City and the Western Irrigation District are undertaking follow-up discussions to improve communication and coordination should similar incidents occur in the future.
Transitional Rural Residential (TRR) District Rescindment Land Use Bylaw Amendment – Bylaw #018-26
Following the Public Hearing (nine participants/submissions), Administration (Community Growth & Infrastructure) requested a decision on Bylaw #018-26 to rescind the Transitional Rural Residential (TRR) District and redesignate the affected properties to the Country Residential (CR) District. Council defeated Second Reading. As a result, Bylaw #018-26 did not proceed.
Unsightly and Nuisance Premises Bylaw – Bylaw #021-26
Administration (Municipal Enforcement) requested a decision on Bylaw #021-26, updating regulations related to unsightly and nuisance properties, including enforcement provisions and penalties. Council gave First Reading, Second Reading, permission to proceed, and Third and Final Reading to Bylaw #021-26.
Housekeeping Land Use Bylaw Amendment – Bylaw #031-26
Administration (Community Growth & Infrastructure) requested a decision on Bylaw #031-26, proposing housekeeping amendments to improve clarity, align with recent bylaw changes, and expand opportunities for health-care facilities in select districts. Council gave First Reading to Bylaw #031-26 and approved a Public Hearing for September 1, 2026, at 11 a.m.
Chestermere Library Board Public Member Appointments
Administration (Legislative Services) requested a decision on recommendations to fill vacancies on the Chestermere Library Board following mid-term resignations. Following Closed Session discussions, Council tabled the appointments.

– Council directed Administration to proceed as discussed during Closed Session regarding the Legal Update.
– Council accepted the Land Use discussion for information.
