Impaired Driver Removed from Roads
On Monday, May 18, 2026, a driver was stopped after a tow truck was observed travelling 75 km/h in a clearly marked 50 km/h zone along Rainbow Road North.
During the stop, the driver was unable to provide valid driving documents. Further investigation revealed the individual was operating a vehicle while suspended and had several outstanding warrants, including matters from outside the province.
Chestermere RCMP attended to assist Community Peace Officers. As part of the investigation, an alcohol screening demand was conducted, which resulted in a “fail.” The driver was taken into custody for impaired driving.
The situation led to multiple charges, the removal of an impaired driver from the roadway, and follow-up on the outstanding warrants.
This incident serves as a reminder that safe driving includes following posted speed limits, ensuring all documents are valid, and never driving while impaired.
These actions highlight the continued commitment of Community Peace Officers and the Chestermere RCMP to keeping our roads safe.
