The City of Chestermere hereby gives notice that an application has been submitted to Transport
Canada — Navigable Waters Protection Program in connection with planned construction activities
at the Chestermere Boulevard Bridge (Structure BF 1049). This notice is issued pursuant to the
requirements of the Canadian Navigable Waters Act and is being posted for a minimum period of 30
consecutive days.
As part of this process, and to ensure the safety of the public, construction workers, and waterway
users, a temporary restriction on boating through the channel beneath the Chestermere Boulevard
Bridge will be required during the construction period.
PROJECT INFORMATION
Structure: Chestermere Boulevard Bridge (BF 1049)

Restriction Period: Summer 2026 (exact dates to be confirmed)
Regulatory Authority: Transport Canada — Navigable Waters Protection Program
Applicable Legislation: Canadian Navigable Waters Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. N-22)
NATURE OF THE TEMPORARY RESTRICTION
To accommodate active construction operations beneath and adjacent to the bridge structure, the
navigable channel will be subject to intermittent restrictions. The following measures will be in effect
during the construction period:
- Boat traffic beneath the Chestermere Boulevard Bridge may be temporarily halted for periods
of up to 15 minutes at a time to allow for safe execution of construction tasks. - Trained flaggers and on-site personnel will be stationed at the bridge to direct and manage
waterway traffic, coordinate safe passage, and communicate hold periods to boaters. - Warning signage will be installed at the bridge site and at all nearby public boat launch
locations prior to commencement of restrictions, providing boaters with adequate notice of
potential delays. - All restrictions will be implemented in a manner that minimizes inconvenience to waterway
users while ensuring the safety of both the public and construction crews. - Boaters approaching the restricted area during an active hold are asked to remain clear of the
channel, reduce speed, and await direction from on-site flaggers before proceeding.
